Brian Lloyd-Newberry

Senior Fellow - Agentic Intelligence
For you cleverness is its own end, and once you have seen a clever way to do a thing, you must do it, as water finding a crack in a dike must pass through it and cover the land on the other side.
Neil Stephenson

Brian believes technology should make it easy to do the right thing, lifting people up and freeing genius. He joined Silversmith Capital Partners in September 2026 as Senior Fellow, Agentic Intelligence. He works to make that belief a reality for entrepreneurs and leaders across the portfolio and the Silversmith team, bringing the future forward, unlocking possibilities and transforming how they innovate.

‍

Brian brings three decades of experience in software and technology leadership, at startups of two people to enterprises of 30,000. He co-founded Engaged.school, a startup focused on student connection and engagement, and helped transform the automotive industry, leading Dealer.com's platform and architecture strategy through two acquisitions, first by Dealertrack and then by Cox Automotive, where he led its AWS cloud, data, application platform and enterprise architecture practices. Brian founded and led the AI Product and Technology Innovation Lab at Cox Automotive, working at the frontier to redefine the art of the possible for product and business capabilities. Starting in early 2023, his team catalyzed generative and then agentic AI at Cox Automotive, working with AWS, Anthropic and other partners to deliver capabilities that raised dealers' engagement with their customers by 50% and saved Cox Automotive $750,000 a year in their first months. The team went on to launch three agentic AI products in just five weeks, and two more in the following months, sharing that playbook at AWS re:Invent 2025.

‍

After a lifetime in the Northeast, Brian now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and loves the sun and the culture. He enjoys food, travel, live music. He spends his "free" time becoming something of a cyborg, exploring what symbiotic intelligence between people and AI can become and sharing it with others. A longtime reader of science fiction and cyberpunk, he writes about AI, software and what comes next at brianln.ai.
